Frankfurt Airport Achieves Record Figures in November Again

Passenger Traffic Grows 2.2 Percent

Airfreight Tonnage Increases 8.4 Percent

Frankfurt Airport, which is expected in the next week to top the 50 million passenger mark for the first time in the airport's history again registered new record traffic figures for the reporting month of November 2004. New peak figures at FRA were achieved for aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), passenger traffic as well as airfreight tonnage. FRA handled some 7,794 metric tons of airfreight on November 21, a new historic daily record for Frankfurt Airport Europe's busiest cargo hub.

Germany's largest passenger airport welcomed 3,844,349 passengers in November 2004, up 2.2 percent compared to the corresponding month last year. One of the growth segments was long-haul leisure travel to destinations such as the Caribbean, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Traffic to the Middle East, North Africa, India and South America also grew.

Climbing 8.4 percent to 159,473 metric tons, FRA?s airfreight throughput once again grew even stronger than passenger traffic. Major growth factors were increases in the Far East, Latin American and African markets.

Further capacity reductions in the so-called overnight domestic airmail network based at FRA again led to an overall decline in airmail tonnage of 11.5 percent to 9,980 metric tons. Aircraft movements at FRA increased by 4.4 percent to 39,200 takeoffs and landings. Maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs), which are particularly important for airport charges, increased 6.8 percent in November 2004 to 2,210,592 metric tons.

Frankfurt Airport achieved impressive growth in almost all traffic categories for the entire January-to-November 2004 period. In the first 11 months of the year, FRA served about 47.5 million passengers, 5.9 percent more than in 2003. Airfreight tonnage came to just under 1.6 million metric tons ? 12.6 percent more than in 2003. More than 439,600 takeoffs and landings were registered, representing a 3.8 percent increase in aircraft movements at FRA.

Along with Fraport's main operation at Frankfurt (FRA), most of the Group's other airports achieved good growth in the reporting month. Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera saw traffic growth improve by 9.8 percent to 686.168 passengers. Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru recorded 401,246 passengers, up 4.2 percent. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport served 203,980 passengers, an increase of 2.1 percent. Hanover Airport (HAJ) welcomed 349,530 passengers, up 1.0 percent. Saarbrücken Airport (SCN) had 30,652 passengers, 6.1 percent more compared to the same month last year.

Together, the Fraport Group's six airports served 5,515,352 passengers in November 2004, an increase of 3.2 percent. Cargo volume (airfreight and airmail) for the Fraport Group increased by 6.9 percent to 203,508 metric tons. The number of aircraft movements for the Fraport Group rose 1.3 percent to 58,543 takeoffs and landings.
