PlanGraphics' Xmarc Technology Use Expanding in Italy
FRANKFORT, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2004--PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA) announced that the Societa Generale d'Informatica S.p.A. (SOGEI), a division of the Italian Ministry of Finance, has renewed and expanded its use of Xmarc technologies. The contract renewal for approximately EUR300,000 provides for the maintenance of SOGEI's Internet and intranet deployment of its Web-enabled geographic information system (WEGIS) application on 225 servers located throughout Italy.
Xmarc's Enterprise Suite 6.1, hosted on an Oracle 9i data management system with Oracle Spatial technology, provides the platform for the national land database and efficiently manages all land transactions while maintaining high levels of data security. WEGIS makes land, data, plans and many other types of geographic information readily available to government authorities. Making this information available through the agency's intranet and over the Internet decreases cost, increases convenience and delivers enhanced speed of response.
