Pop Art vs. Old Masters - a new form of trade via social networking is launched in the global arts market

BAMBERG, Germany, November 2012

- my-artmap now provides an international sales platform embedded in its social arts network

- Dealers can display their items in their own shop to a global audience

- A revolution for collectors and dealers alike

The social art network, my-artmap, provides a shopping system for artists, galleries, dealers and auction houses and is able to reach art lovers worldwide.

"The link between a social network aimed at the arts target group and a global marketplace is fantastic. We are excited by this idea, because we can now show our items directly to the correct target group and avoid losses from non-selective advertising," says Frank Fluegel, Owner of the renowned Galerie Fluegel-Roncak, which as well as offering numerous works by well-known pop artists, is also offering the original work "Fata" by Mel Ramos (150,000 euros) via my-artmap SHOPS.

It has so far been possible to befriend other members on my-artmap in the same way as on Facebook and to discuss international arts events and market news. This has now changed. Contemporary arts by Warhol, Rizzi and Lichtenstein will be offered for sale along with jewellery, watches and paintings by old masters from the 15th - 18th century. Prices range from 20 euros to 150,000 euros, indicating the wide range of items available on the platform.

In recent weeks, the company's founders, have entered into numerous co-operation agreements with jewellers, galleries, jewellery dealers and art dealers.

"It is particularly the mix of established dealers and young artists that is so unique. We would like to interest traditional collectors in works by modern artists and show young collectors fascinating items from the 16th or 17th century. After all, there is one thing that unites all art lovers: a love of beautiful things - and this is precisely where we forge our links!" says Stefan Sebök, who was involved in the international art market as an auctioneer before founding my-artmap.
