Wattens, Austria (ots) - Swarovski, the world's leading manufacturer of cut crystal, teams up with master photographer Helmut Newton to enter the year 2003.

This co-operation marks the premiere of the Swarovski Art Calendar Edition, created to illustrate the "Crystal phenomenon" from the personal viewpoint of selected representatives from the international world of photographic artists. Each year a different world-famous photographic genius will focus a high-precision optical lens on Swarovski crystal to produce a personal and unique interpretation for the Swarovski Art Calendar.

With the Art Calendar Edition Swarovski braves a leap into a fresh, young and uncomplicated representation of its world. This company, typified by traditions and 107 years of continued history, professes an open and impartial attitude towards art.

Helmut Newton's motifs for the Swarovski Art Calendar 2003 are the result of love and devotion. Born in Berlin in 1920, Helmut Newton achieved international fame in the 1970's while working principally for French Vogue. He is renowned for the precision glamour of his photographs as well as the striking, often controversial scenarios he chooses for his models.

The limited edition Swarovski Art Calendar 2003 will be available exclusively via www.swarovski.com.
