From season opening to spring skiing - this winter is packed with huge events and celebrity performances. Concerts on the pistes, exciting races or a beach party in the snow - party animals and snow fans will not want to miss these top 10 Alpine events.
The ski areas are competing hard with each other this season to get ahold of the some of the most popular celebrities. For the annual season-opening Top of the Mountain concert in Ischgl, the British megastar James Blunt will be rocking the Idalp. For the Snowboard Cross World Cup in Montafon, the German rap combo Fantastischen Vier and Bastille have announced their coming. On the Planai in Schladming, there will be a real festival going on, including performances by Casper, Kraftklub, Klangkarussell and Marlon Roudette. A legendary jubilee is to be celebrated in Obertauern, as the Beatles will be returning after 50 years of absence. The season opening event is called "A Tribute to the Beatles" and the cover band "The Backwards", as well as star musician Andreas Gabalier, will be on stage.
Crazy fun competitions in the snow
The Rise & Fall in Mayrhofen-Hippach is celebrating its third run. This unusual relay race requires teams of 4 to compete in ski mountaineering, mountain-biking, paragliding and skiing or snowboarding. The spectacular snow-mobile race "Snow Mobile" in Saalbach-Hinterglemm attracts quite a few celebrities cruising through the resort.
