-GENERAL-ELECTRIC)(GE) General Electric Appoints Two Company Officers

Fairfield, May 14, 2004 --General Electric today announced the appointment of two new company officers.

Paul A. McElhinney, 43, is Vice President, Legal Operations, for GE Transportation. Previously, he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel at GE Commercial Finance, Capital Aviation Services. Previously, McElhinney had a succession of legal positions at GE Capital Aviation Services at its Shannon, Ireland, facility.

McElhinney began his career in Aviation Financing in 1988 at the GPA Group, which was later acquired by GE Capital Aviation Services. He received his undergraduate degree in law from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland in 1982.

Iain Mackay, 42, is Vice President & CFO, Global Diagnostic Imaging (DI) and Services, GE Healthcare Technologies. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, GE Consumer Finance-Americas. From 2001 through 2002, he was Vice President and Manager of GE Capital's Audit Staff. Mackay began his career with GE in October 1996 as Controller at GE Global Consumer Finance.

Mackay received his Masters Degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom in 1982.
