Daon Provides Core Biometric Technology on Key TSA Initiative

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2004-- Daon, as Part of the BearingPoint Team, Has Been Selected to Provide Their Core Biometric Identity Management Software to Phase III of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Program Daon, a leading provider of biometric identity management software, announced today that it will supply some of the core biographic and biometric software to BearingPoint, Inc. for use in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Transportation Security Administration (TSA)'s Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. BearingPoint, Inc., one of the world's largest business consulting and systems integration firms, was awarded a $12 million contract from the TSA to develop and evaluate a prototype of the TWIC system in August 2004.

The purpose of the TWIC program is to improve the security of identity management by establishing a system-wide common credential, universally acceptable across all transportation modes, for all personnel whose duties require unescorted physical and/or logical access to secure areas of the transportation system. The program's four overarching goals include improving security, enhancing commerce, protecting personal privacy, and assisting to mitigate security threats.

Daon bring extensive biometric research and subject matter expertise as well as proven software products that are highly secure, flexible and interoperable, enabling the rapid deployment of mission critical systems like TWIC. Daon will provide some of the core biometric and biographic software and solution development expertise to the BearingPoint team.
