SuperSport Launches Mobile Media Service Using the Entriq Mobile Solution

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 2004--

Entriq Technology Allows SuperSport to Easily Manage, Monetize, Protect and Deliver Catalog of Sports Content to Mobile Subscribers

SuperSport, a leading sports channel in Africa, is making the region's most compelling sports content available to mobile phone subscribers through a relationship with Entriq(TM), Inc. The new Entriq Mobile Solution, introduced today, is the industry's first complete technology solution that gives content owners direct control for managing, monetizing and protecting rich media across mobile devices worldwide. In addition to its relationship with SuperSport, Entriq provides pay media services to leading content providers, ISPs, and cable operators worldwide and is a subsidiary of the multinational media group Naspers (Nasdaq:NPSN)(JSE:NPN).

Analysts report that the mobile entertainment market is estimated at $3.1 billion, and Entriq helps content companies capture an important piece of the market on their own. The Entriq Mobile Solution puts together all of the pieces of a disparate marketplace into one solution, including content types, device protocols, billing options, DRM solutions and distribution platforms. SuperSport turned to Entriq to make sports content, including video clips, available through the wireless channel to mobile subscribers across South Africa.

Previously, content owners were forced to use aggregators or carriers to prepare content for mobile distribution, but Entriq puts the power in the content owner's hands, saving them time and money.

"We are extremely impressed with the Entriq Mobile Solution as it allowed us to begin selling premium sports content through an entirely new distribution channel in a very short amount of time," said Ray Moore, general manager of SuperSportZone. "One of the most valuable aspects of the solution is that it optimizes content for hundreds of devices in the marketplace, eliminating the hurdle of getting the right type of content to the new 3G devices in the market."

Manage, Monetize, Protect and Deliver Mobile Media

With the Entriq Mobile Solution, content owners maintain control and increase revenues from their content, while carriers benefit by making content easily available to their subscribers in a shorter period of time. Once content is integrated into the Entriq solution, it takes minutes for it to be optimized and ready for distribution, where it would take days or weeks with any other solution. The Entriq Mobile Solution provides customers with four distinct advantages -- the ability to manage, monetize, protect and deliver mobile media with one end-to-end solution.

"The Entriq Mobile Solution provides a host of services that are critical for media companies that want to make their content available to mobile consumers," said Ralph Simon, U.S. Chair Americas, Mobile Entertainment Forum. "In the current wireless landscape, there are many hurdles to overcome before mobilizing media, such as content optimization, intelligent device mapping and DRM -- all of which are addressed by the Entriq Mobile Solution."

SuperSport was able to quickly launch a complete service into the mobile market, while ensuring content was properly optimized for multiple devices. Additionally, SuperSport immediately began expanding revenue opportunities with existing content through the Entriq mobile distribution and global syndication, while controlling the rights and rules of the content, such as who views the media, where it is accessed and how it is used. Finally, Entriq's extensive content delivery services distribute rich media to mobile users, eliminating the need for SuperSport to be concerned with the delivery of their content to mobile phones.

"Mobile media is a worldwide phenomenon and Entriq provides a complete solution that makes it easy for any media company to tap into this opportunity," said Jan Steenkamp, chief executive officer of Entriq. "The Entriq Mobile Solution was built from the ground up to make it easy for companies take advantage of the explosive mobile media trend, while still maintaining complete control over their most valuable assets."

Entriq has been a successful provider of pay media infrastructure solutions and services for more than a decade. Over this period, the company has successfully expanded its focus from traditional broadcast technology to digital cable to satellite to broadband and now wireless technology. Recent customers using the Entriq technology solution include NBC Universal, European Broadcast Union (EBU), World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) and MTV.
