Kodiak Networks Announces Integrated IMS and OMA/PoC System

CTIA Wireless 2005 SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--

Kodiak Real-Time Exchange (RTX) System Delivers IMS Services Today While Fully Supporting OMA/PoC and IMS Standards Kodiak Networks, the leading provider of advanced wireless systems, today announced the availability of the Kodiak Real-Time Exchange(TM) (RTX) System with integrated Open Mobile Alliance (OMA)/Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) and IP Multi-Media Subsystem (IMS) capability.

This breakthrough system spans all wireless network generations, fully supports existing OMA/PoC and IMS standards, and delivers IMS services on today's networks. The Kodiak RTX System enables a suite of advanced voice services (AVS) applications, including Push-to-Talk (PTT), that are IMS-capable and work seamlessly among 2G GSM and CDMA networks, and 3G UMTS networks. These applications increase revenue per minutes of use (MOU), boost overall average revenue per user (ARPU) and improve customer retention. Wireless subscribers across all networks have the opportunity to access a broad range of AVS applications and features, including:

-- Kodiak Instant Calling(TM) - PTT Calling with Contacts and Groups

-- Kodiak Instant Availability(TM) - Real-time Availability Status

-- Kodiak Voice Bridge(TM) - Instant Group Conferencing

-- Kodiak Voice Notes(TM) - Instant Voice Messaging

-- Instant Calling Upgrade to Conference Call

-- Call Waiting

-- Regulatory and Priority Call Support

-- Wireless and Landline Integration

"Kodiak's support of PoC and IMS standards is significant," said Abraham Joseph, CEO of research and consulting firm Inteligentis. "It allows them to keep the benefits of their current solution and at the same time offer a migration path that addresses the important issue of future service interoperability".

The Kodiak RTX System is a multi-generation, carrier-grade solution that interoperates across wireless and landline network access technologies. Within the 3G UMTS network domain, the Kodiak RTX System offers a software-only upgrade path to the OMA/PoC standard using existing Kodiak hardware.

The Kodiak approach to OMA/PoC and IMS offers a compelling value proposition to wireless operators including:

-- IMS Capable - Kodiak AVS applications are a rich portfolio offering many IMS benefits today, including advanced voice and messaging services, presence, and cross-network operation.

-- Quality of Service (QoS) - Kodiak leads the industry with superior voice quality and reliability, delivering a consistent and satisfying subscriber experience on any access network.

-- Increased Overall Revenue - Immediate, incremental revenue can be realized through increased revenue per MOU and differentiation through AVS applications, such as Instant Calling (Push to Talk), instant availability, instant conferencing, and instant voice messaging.

-- Investment Protection - Long-term investment protection is ensured through a documented, software-only migration path for the Kodiak RTX system to support multiple networks, various network generations, emerging OMA/PoC standards, and IMS core integration.

-- Device Flexibility and Selection - Unparalleled client flexibility is provided through extensive handset supplier agreements and commitment to a dual mode client that supports multiple configurations.

"The Kodiak RTX System with OMA/PoC and IMS capabilities allows wireless operators to deliver advanced wireless voice services to their customers today and provides them with a migration strategy to seamlessly interface with 3G networks in the future," said Bruce Lawler, vice president of business strategy, Kodiak Networks.

Kodiak Networks will be demonstrating the industry's first multi-generational, multi-protocol, multi-network PTT call in the Lucent Booth (#2245) at the upcoming CTIA Wireless event, March 14-16, 2005 in New Orleans, LA.
