Fraport Traffic Figures

- May 2005: Growth Continues at FRA - Group Airports Achieve Double-digit Increases - Antalya Declines Frankfurt/Main, Germany (ots) - The Fraport Group greeted 4.5 million passengers at its Frankfurt Airport (FRA) home base during the reporting month - a 2.6 percent increase over May 2004 and a further improvement over the previous months. Due to long weekends in May 2005, there was an increase in short-break and vacation travel, which compensated for the lower demand in domestic and West European business travel. Mediterranean destinations were particularly popular, with the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cyprus, Greece, Tunisia and Turkey all achieving double-digit increases. Intercontinental traffic also continued to experience over-proportional growth, particularly routes to North America, Africa and the Middle East. China and India continued to be particularly dynamic growth drivers for FRA's Far East traffic.

FRA again enjoyed dynamic airfreight traffic, handling some 152,062 metric tons - a new record for the month of May. The loss of production days due to May holidays resulted in lower freight volumes for departing flights. Nevertheless, FRA's freight tonnage rose by 3.2 percent compared to the same month last year. The number of freighter flights at FRA grew by 12.5 percent.

Increasing by more than a quarter, the Middle East region - with the United Arab Emirates leading the way - served as the growth engine. High-volume destinations in Asia, especially in China, India and Korea, also recorded double-digit growth. FRA's routes to and from Eastern Europe and Turkey generated noticeably more airfreight.

Because of the closure of the Frankfurt overnight domestic airmail hub, FRA's airmail traffic dropped noticeably by 18.7 percent to 7,039 metric tons. Growth in international airmail was not enough to offset the significant decline in domestic airmail.

Aircraft movements at FRA climbed by four percent to 42,499 takeoffs and landings in May 2005. Due to the over-proportionate growth in freighter flights, maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) experienced even stronger growth - climbing 6.4 percent to about 2.5 million metric tons.

Approximately 6.3 million passengers used the Fraport Group's airports in May 2005. Almost all of the Group's airports recorded double-digit growth rates. Traffic at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) climbed by 17.4 percent to 278,853 passengers. Hanover Airport (HAJ) registered a 16.2 percent increase to 507,625 passengers. Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru welcomed 450,283 passengers, an 11.2percent increase compared to the same month last year. Saarbr?cken Airport (SCN) also saw traffic grow noticeably by 11 percent to 48,530 passengers.

The Fraport terminal at Antalya Airport (AYT) was alone in registering a traffic decline. Only 486,062 passengers were served here, following the April 2005 opening of a new second terminal in which Fraport is not a partner. The Fraport Group reported a 3.8 percent jump in cargo (airfreight plus airmail) in May 2005 to 186,614 metric tons. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport was particularly successful in this traffic category, growing by 18.3 percent to 18,028 metric tons.

Total aircraft movements for the Group's airports dropped by 2.1 percent to 64,542 takeoffs and landings - solely because of the transfer of traffic to the new terminal at Antalya.
