Lomographic Society International presents - the totally vast international Lomographic snapshot competition in collaboration with the BMW Group.

The Lomographic Society International with its Lomographic Embassies on five continents is organising a staggering photo competition, in collaboration with BMW, for the launch of the new Sports Activity Vehicle X3.

Everybody is invited to send in a minimum of four virtuoso snapshots taken in everyday situations in each of the following categories: 1.) Your Passengers - the creatures you give a ride to; 2.) Your Tools - things around you; 3.) Your Day - things you do in the morning, at work or after dark; 4.) Your Favourite Picture - that wonderful moment when it all came together.

The target is to build the biggest photography wall ever within six months, to be set at a (still secret) location in summer 2004 - over 50,000 snapshots on a wall, some hundred metres long, providing an overview of everyday lives, habits, 'visual atmospheres' around the globe today: an adventure trip around the world!

Dozens of gorgeous prizes are being awarded every month between December 2003 and May 2004; all monthly prize-winners qualify for the finals; in May 2004 a jury will select the best of the best: Four overall winners get the mega-prize, a tour with the new BMW for 2 people from one metropolis to another, choosing their own route - anywhere, from Paris to Madrid, from Shanghai to Hong Kong, from Anchorage to San Diego - and of course documenting it thoroughly!

The first "offline" exhibition is taking place at the Photography fair Paris Photo 2003, September 13-16, Carrousel du Louvre. Starting shot: unique Lomographic 3-dimensional sculptures (comprised of 10,000 images), an artistic visual study of modern people, modern lifestyles and modern mobility, seen through thousands of eyes and thousands of lomographic lenses.
