Otis Wins Elevators, Escalators Contract For Soccer Stadium at 2008 Olympic Games in China

FARMINGTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 2004--Otis Elevator Company announced it has been awarded the project to supply the elevators and escalators for the Tianjin Olympic Sports Center, a soccer venue for the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in China.

The Tianjin facility, which Otis will equip with 10 elevators and six escalators, is the second Olympic Games-related project to use Otis vertical transportation systems. In October 2002, Otis won the contract to supply 11 elevators and 38 escalators for the Beijing Transit Center, the city's biggest public transit project and a key transportation interchange for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Tianjin Olympic soccer stadium will have a floor area of 839,000 square feet (78,000 square meters) and a seating capacity for 60,000.

Otis will install:

-- 8 Otis 3200 elevators.

-- 4 Otis 506 NCE (new commercial escalator) units.

-- 2 Otis 510 PSE (public service escalator) units.

-- 2 TOEC(R) 3F elevators.
