Berlin (ots) - International partnership event for new EU members in Berlin

Strengthening the economic links between the new member countries of

the EU and Germany in the gas and water sectors and the creation of

new sales markets: these are the aims of the congress and trade fair

WASSER + GAS BERLIN SPEZIAL 2004, which will be taking place from 8

to 10 September in Berlin, offering the new member countries of the

EU partnership opportunities in the water and gas sector.

Companies from Western Europe will be meeting with trade visitors and

exhibitors from Central and Eastern Europe on a display area

measuring 6,000 m2 (overall). Meetings will be taking place here

between manufacturers from the gas, water and sewage industries as

exhibitors, service providers as potential investors, trade

associations, banks, insurance companies and specialist legal firms

on the one hand, and trade visitors from industry, supply and waste

disposal companies, commerce and the skilled trades, public sector

authorities, science and research on the other.

Parallel with the trade fair, there will be a congress focusing on

issues involving joint ventures with the new member countries of the

EU. The congress programme will concentrate on the procedures

involved in bidding for impending projects, and on EU directives, and

various aspects of financing, liberalisation and privatisation,

professional training and advanced training. The industry and

communities regard the exchange of views about joint ventures and

company representations and the discussions on specific participatory

models for this industry including public-private partnership as

being of outstanding practical importance.

This trade fair and congress will benefit from the experience gained

by Messe Berlin with events such as "WASSER BERLIN" (International

Trade Fair and Congress for Water) and "GAS BERLIN", which every

three years attract over 700 exhibitors from 25 countries.
