Fraport AG Buys Caltex Site Northwest of Frankfurt Airport / Strategic Location Close to FRA: 84 Hectares Available for Businesses

Frankfurt Main, Germany (ots) - Fraport AG - the owner and manager of Frankfurt Airport (FRA) - has purchased the site of the former Caltex refinery from Caltex Deutschland GmbH. Final approval for the purchase is expected from Fraport's supervisory board shortly. Located near the Main River and only a few kilometers northwest of FRA, the 84-hectare Caltex site is the largest undeveloped commercial land area remaining in the airport vicinity.

Over the years, the Caltex site has been proposed as the location for a major service and distribution center. However, the project was never realized. Using its resources and expertise, Fraport will be aggressively targeting businesses to locate at this strategic site near continental Europe's leading air transportation hub. For developing the site, Fraport will be able to draw upon its planning and marketing experience gained at FRA's highly successful CargoCity South area.

With the purchase of the Caltex site, Fraport has taken over all existing contractual obligations under public law with the neighbouring communities of Kelsterbach and Raunheim. "We look forward to cooperating successfully with these communities in attracting new businesses and hence more jobs to the Rhine-Main region," said Dr. Wilhelm Bender, Fraport AG's executive board chairman.
