Lima Airports Peru Plaza Inaugurated
Frankfurt, Germany (ots) - The new Peru Plaza at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima has been officially inaugurated by Peru's President Alejandro Toledo Manrique and Fraport AG's (FSE: FRA) executive board chairman Dr. Wilhelm Bender. The 5,000 square meter terminal expansion houses shops, restaurants and other services and is Latin America's only airport retail shopping center that is located "landside" - meaning it is also open to the public visiting the airport.
The Peru Plaza and the expanded and modernized terminal area is scheduled to go into operation in February. The terminal offers 28 gates with 7 passenger loading bridges. Currently, 24 airlines serve Lima Airport.
Fraport AG has a 40 percent stake in Lima's international airport and has been responsible for operational management since 2001. With more than 5 million passengers, Lima Airport's passenger traffic grew 12 percent in 2004 (see also news release ANR 7/2005). LIM continues to strengthen its position as a regional air transportation hub for Latin America.
