"As the world's leading synthetic motor oil brand, it's no surprise that for more than 30 years Mobil 1™ has been the lubricant of choice for many successful race teams and drivers, including 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart and 2009 FIA Formula 1™ World Champion Jenson Button," said Rebecca K. Aldred, Global Brand Manager, Mobil 1. "We're excited to deliver a stellar fifth season of the show and give race fans across the globe an inside look into what makes race teams in the world's top motorsports circuits successful, as well as the real personalities behind some of their favorite drivers."

Developed in 2008 in partnership with Sunset & Vine, a leading global sports television distribution and production company, "Mobil 1 The Grid" offers fans an exclusive, all-access look into the most popular international professional racing circuits, successful race teams and popular drivers. The series also offers wide-ranging coverage of a number of global amateur grassroots racing programs and circuits.

This past season, "Mobil 1 The Grid" provided an in-depth look into how Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button's interest in racing developed at a young age, and how that interest blossomed into a love of Grand Prix racing. The show also profiled Jann Mardenborough, a gamer and the 2011 winner of the Nissan Playstation GT Academy, whose skills in a real race car were so impressive that he was selected to run the entire British GT Championship last season. Finally, "Mobil 1 The Grid" went behind the scenes in its "Technology" series to reveal the advanced technology and design inspiration that goes into developing the world's fastest track cars and keeping them race-ready.

Today, Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil is relied on for its ability to deliver exceptional engine performance and protection, even under some of the most extreme conditions by automotive technicians, race car drivers, team owners and the world's leading automotive manufacturers.

Along with its recently-expanded partnership with NASCAR, which cements its status as the Official Motor Oil of NASCAR through 2017, the Mobil 1 brand continues to enjoy a long association with many of the world's most popular and successful race teams, including the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 Team, Stewart-Haas Racing in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series, Corvette Racing's American LeMans Series team, and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup-the world's fastest international one-make series. Mobil 1 is also the official motor oil of the Sports Car Club of America.
