Netezza and IBM Deliver Enhanced Data Integration Functionality

Support of Netezza's High-Speed Data Loader Allows IBM Information Server Customers to Fully Leverage the Performance of the NPS System in their Data Integration Efforts

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2006--Netezza, the global data warehouse appliance market leader, today announced the availability of enhanced integration capabilities between its Netezza Performance Server(R) (NPS(R)) data warehouse appliance and IBM Information Server.

As a result of this integration, customers can seamlessly leverage IBM Information Server with the Netezza data warehouse appliance while maximizing performance. IBM Information Server incorporates support for Netezza's high-speed data loader, which currently delivers data transfer speeds of 500 gigabytes an hour, and enables IBM Information Server customers to achieve very high throughput rates when loading data into the NPS system.

"We are glad to be working with Netezza to solve some of the most pressing information management challenges facing our customers today," said Pete Fiore, vice president, IBM Information Integration Solutions. "Our continued collaboration will allow us to deliver comprehensive, high-performance solutions for enterprise information management that not only address organizational needs today, but also challenge customers to think of new ways in which they can leverage their enterprise data."

"The combination of Netezza's high-performance data warehouse appliance and the breadth of capabilities of IBM Information Server delivers a powerful foundation that lets organizations achieve unprecedented access to all of their data," said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder of Netezza. "We are excited about this partnership because we believe it addresses a critical market need. As organizations struggle to cope with growing volumes of data, performance and scalability issues around their data integration processes are becoming very important. The reduced data latencies and improved data access capabilities resulting from the enhanced integration of our two products will help our customers increase their competitive advantage."

The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 100 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization.

Customers who have recognized the benefits of Netezza's approach include Ahold, Amazon.com, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Debenhams, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Ryder System, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation, The Carphone Warehouse and The TJX Companies.
